The GCA provides for the establishment of the ADBT for the purposes of promoting and benefiting the general welfare of the Native Title Groups and Communities by:

  • Receiving, holding, managing, investing, allocating, distributing and accounting for moneys contributed to the ADBT and any income thereof in accordance with the Schedule and Trust Deed;
  • Encouraging the development of businesses by members of the Native Title Groups and the Communities by providing, without limitation, loans or grants, assistance in business skills training, start-up funding for small businesses and finance for equity in other ventures and land purchases.

GCA defines Communities as collectively:

(a) The Native Title Groups (Waanyi People, Mingginda People, and Gkuthaarn and Kukatj People respectively, each for and in respect of their traditional country); and

(b) Other Aboriginal people residing in the local government areas of Burke, Carpentaria, Doomadgee and Mornington Island.

Indigenous Sports Development Program

ADBT Indigenous Sports funding will be available to support young Indigenous sports persons. The grant aims to support and assist eligible individuals compete at regional, state, national and international sporting events and regional teams and regional events.
