GREAT/Century Employment and Training Program
The Gulf Regional Economic Aboriginal Trust (GREAT), in partnership with Century Mining Pty Ltd (CML) is funded to deliver a comprehensive employment and training program aimed at developing the Gulf Communities at the individual, community and industry level. This employment and training program is designed to address key foundational education and economic gaps prevalent in the Gulf Communities and generate meaningful employment outcomes for community members, small business and regional industry employers including Century Mining Pty Ltd (CML).
Financial and advisory support under this program is funded by the Gulf Communities Agreement for the following aboriginal people:
Local Aboriginal Person – A member of any of the Native Title Groups or of the Communities.
Native Title Groups – Waanyi People, Mingginda People and Gkuthaarn and Kukatj People respectively, each for and in respect of their traditional country.
Communities – Collectively:
- The Native Title Groups; and
- Other Aborigines residing in the local government areas of Burke, Carpentaria, Doomadgee and Mornington Island.
GREAT encourages members of the Gulf Communities (individuals and businesses) to submit ideas on employment and training initiatives that have the potential to deliver outcomes that align with the program’s objectives.
At its sole discretion, GREAT may be able to provide financial and/or advisory support for individuals, existing businesses and start ups where there is realisable employment or economic development outcomes that will be of long term benefit the Gulf Communities.
